Five foreign insurance firms will continue to provide financial services in Myanmar despite the country’s current political unrest.

The five companies – AIA Myanmar, Chubb Life Myanmar, Dai-ichi Life, Prudential Myanmar and Manulife Myanmar – took to their Facebook pages to inform the public that they will continue working with the country’s populace.
Capital Taiyo Life Insurance, a joint venture, also announced that it will continue operations in Myanmar.
AIA Myanmar said that it will provide support for the country’s people not only during happy times but also during situations of uncertainty.
Dai-ichi Life, a subsidiary of Dai-ichi Life Group, affirmed to continue offering financial services prioritising its consumers, families and staff during these difficult times. It vowed to put ‘People First’.
Myanmar generated K86 billion in revenue from the insurance industry during the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
The country has a total of 24 insurance companies – both locally and foreign owned – with capital investments amounting to approximately US$152 million and K67 billion respectively.
