Myanmar expects to receive its second batch of COVID-19 vaccines from India on February 11, according to reliable sources from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

“We know that the second batch would arrive on February 11 but we are neither sure of the time nor the quantity,” the sources said.
Myanmar has purchased 30 million doses of the Covishield/AstraZeneca vaccine with the State budget from India.
This is in addition to the 1.5 million doses of the vaccine gifted by the Indian government on January 22. The 1.5 million doses will be able to cater to the inoculation of 750,000 individuals.
The country is scheduled to receive another 27 million doses from Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, in March.
Myanmar kicked off its vaccination program for the general populace on February 5 by inoculating approximately 300 elders aged 65 and above at the Pabedan, Dagon, and Botataung townships.
The country vaccinated a total of 103,142 health workers and volunteers from January 27 to February 2.
